Core concepts

Workspaces, projects, environments, services, revisions and deployments.

Workspace

Your account works in a workspace: it holds your projects, your connected GitHub accounts and your usage. Your plan's limits apply across all your workspaces together.

Project

A project is an isolated space for the services of one product. Each project starts with one environment, production.

Environment

An environment is where services run and reach each other. Services in the same environment share a private network; services in another environment or another project cannot reach them. Variable references also stay within one environment.

Service

A service runs one container: an app built from GitHub, a container image, or a template. A service has at most one port, and you choose how it is reached:

NetworkingReached by
No portNobody. For workers that only make outgoing connections.
Private portOther services in the same environment.
Public HTTPAnyone, on an HTTPS address. Other services can still use its private address.

A service runs 1 to 3 replicas. A service with a volume, and a scheduled job, run one.

Revision

Every change to a service's settings (its image, variables, port, start command and so on) is saved as a revision, which never changes afterwards. Saving does not change what is running: the service panel shows the saved revision and the running one separately until you deploy.

Deployment

A deployment puts a revision live. Raseef starts the new version, waits for it to be ready, and only then stops the old one, so your users keep being served during the change. If the new version fails, the old one keeps running. See Deployments.
